This work is aimed to apply Genetic Algorithms to minimize maintenance costs in the specific area of electric power distribution. A power distribution network has several equipments (switchers, circuit breakers, transformers, etc) which are subject to periodical maintenance procedures (either corrective or preventive). A team of technicians based in a viable place is responsible for a given number of equipments. In this work we used real-world historical data about previous malfunctions in the network in order to establish the points where maintenance teams have to be located so as to minimize costs and allow an efficient service. Results obtained so far encourages further development of the system.
